PYROGEN IN VEHICLES
Fires in transportation vehicles pose a significant threat to human life and property. Hundreds of thousands of vehicle fires occur around the world every year, resulting in loss of thousands of human lives and billions of dollars in property damage.
Particularly, fire in buses have been in the spotlight due to catastrophic incidents such as the bus fire in Xiamen, China (2013) and in Hanover, Germany (2008) which resulted in the death of 47 and 20 passengers respectively.
Most of bus fires start in the engine compartment, usually out of sight of the bus driver. Therefore, it is crucial for buses to adopt an efficient fire detection and suppression system to avoid injuries, loss of lives, property damages and to ensure business continuity.
Pyrogen has specially developed the IPEX system for fire protection of buses, trains and transport vehicles operating in demanding environments. An advanced automatic fire protection system, its versatile size is ideal for bus engine compartments and its rapid discharge ensure minimal property damage and safety of bus passengers.
Pyrogen has been protecting Brisbane City (Queensland, Australia) Council’s buses since 2010. The IPEX bus fire suppression system was installed in hundreds of buses from a diverse range of models (such as MK-3, MK-4, Volvo B12, Volvo B7, Volvo B10L, Scania etc) under Brisbane Transport.
